Un par de compañeros y yo fuimos a comer en Roast, un restaurante británico en el centro de Borough Market, Londres.

A couple of colleagues and I went for lunch at Roast, a British restaurant in the heart of Borough Market, London.

Va a ser una entrada de blog breve puesto que solo pedimos un plato y lo mismo, pero merece la pena escribir esta entrada de blog.

This will be a short and sweet blog post as we all had only one course and the same one, but it was a blog-worthy course.

Todos nosotros pedimos el lechón con puré de manzana, que solo sirven los jueves. Lianna y Joe decidieron de comer los suyos con patatas asadas en grasa de ternera, mientras que yo pedí el puré de patatas.

We all had roast rare-breed suckling pig with apple sauce, which they only serve on Thursdays. Lianna and Joe decided to have theirs with roast potatoes cooked in beef dripping, whilst I had mine with mashed potato.

Para las guarniciones, Joe pedí la col, Lianna pidió las zanahorias con mantequilla y perejil, y yo pedí el maíz asado con mantequilla fumada.

For sides, Joe had primo cabbage, Lianna had heritage carrots with butter and parsley, and I had grilled sweetcorn with smoked butter.

El lechón y el puré de patatas estaban muy ricos, pero prefiero más el lechón a la parrilla. Sin embargo la corteza de cerdo fue maravillosa, crujiente y riquísima. Igualmente impresionante fueron el maíz, lleno de sabor y bastante picante, y las patatas asadas (¡gracias a Lianna por darme la papa para probarla!). Sin embargo, hubiera preferido que el puré de manzana hubiera sido menos dulce con un poco más mantequilla. El puré de patata me gustó, pero hubiera sido fenomenal con un poquito más nata y mantequilla.

The suckling pig and mashed potato were very nice, although I prefer suckling pig to be barbecued. However, the crackling from the pork was wonderfully crunchy and tasty. Equally as impressive were the sweetcorn, which was full of flavour and slightly picante, and roast potatoes (thanks Lianna for donating a roast for me to try!). I would, however, have preferred the apple sauce to have been slightly less sweet and with a little more butter. The mashed potato was pleasing, but would have been more outstanding with a touch more cream and butter too.

Roast es un restaurante estupendo para comer en cualquiera hora del día con compañeros de trabajo, clientes, amigos o familia. ¡Pero hay que intentar resistir todas las otras delicias en Borough Market de camino al restaurante!

Roast is a great restaurant at any time of day to dine with colleagues, clients, friends or family. Just try and resist all the other delights in Borough Market when making your way en route there!
