Desde el principio del año, ya he ido a varia fiestas por varias razones, con mis compañeros de trabajo, mis amigas y con mi padre (¡no todos al mismo tiempo!), y todas las fiestas han estado en el bar que se llama el Sky Pod Bar, dentro del Sky Garden, en la planta 35 del edificio ‘Walkie-Talkie’ en Londres… por razones vagas…

Since the beginning of the year, I’ve already been to various parties for various reasons, with my colleagues, friends and my father (not all at the same time!), and all the parties have been in the Sky Pod Bar, within the Sky Garden, which is on the 35th floor of the ‘Walkie-Talkie’ building in London… because of sheer laziness…

Mis compañeros de trabajo y yo y nuestros invitados tenemos la suerte de aprovechar el Sky Garden al máximo, puesto que mis compañeros y yo trabajamos en las plantas 31 y 32 del mismo edificio.  No cuesta nada para visitar el Sky Garden, pero sí que hay un pago mínimo para reservar por adelantado las mesas en el bar y los restaurantes (Darwin Brasserie y Fenchurch Restaurant) allí, que es muy común en los lugares de alta perfil en esta ciudad.  Entonces, lo mejor que se puede hacer es reservar una entrada gratis para visitar el Sky Garden y esperar una mesa sin reserva, a menos que conocéis a gente quien trabaja en el edificio, quien puede aprovechar el ‘atajo’…

My colleagues and I and our guests are lucky to make the most of the Sky Garden, as my colleagues and I work on the 31st and 32nd floors of the same building.  It doesn’t cost anything to visit the Sky Garden, but there is a minimum fee to reserve the tables in advance in the bar and the restaurants (Darwin Brasserie and Fenchurch Restaurant) there, which is very common en high profile places in this city.  So, the best thing to do is to book a free ticket to visit the Sky Garden and wait for an unreserved table, unless you know people who work in this building, who can take advantage of the ‘shortcut‘…

En el Sky Pod Bar, se puede pedir varias bebidas, cócteles, tentempiés, y tablas para compartir.  Mientras que en el Darwin Brasserie en el Fenchurch Restaurant se sirve la comida típica británica – el último es más caro que el primero, puesto que es un restaurante más de alta cocina.  A mí me gustan más los cócteles en el Sky Pod Bar – son bastante caros (cuesta al menos £11.50 por cada uno) pero de verdad lo merecen. In the Sky Pod Bar, you can order various drinks, cocktails, snacks and platters to share.  Whilst in the Darwin Brasserie and Fenchurch Restaurant they serve typical British food – the latter is more expensive than the former, as it is more of an haute cuisine restaurant.  What I like most are the cocktails in the Sky Pod Bar – they’re quite expensive (each one costs at least £11.50) but they’re really worth it.  Below are images of some of the drinks that we’ve ordered this month:

De todos los cócteles que he probado, lo que me gusta más por razones de gusto y pragmáticas, fue el cóctel que se llama ‘Going nuts‘.  Es un cóctel caliente, y de verdad hace falta pedir bebidas calientes en el Sky Pod Bar, puesto que hace tanto frío en invierno – tanto es así que se puede pedir bolsas de agua caliente (no lo digo de broma, como ves abajo)…  Además, a mí me encanta la crema de cacahuete, y beber este cóctel es como beber la crema de cacahuete con un toque del Ron Zapaca Centenario 23…

Of all the cocktails that I’ve tried, the one that I preferred the most for practical reasons and as a matter of taste, was the cocktail called ‘Going nuts’.  It’s a warm cocktail, and you really need to order warm drinks in the Sky Pod Bar, as it gets so cold in the winter – so much so that you can request hot water bottles (no joke, as you can see below)…  Furthermore, I love peanut butter, and drinking this cocktail is like drinking peanut butter with a touch of Zapaca Centenario 23 rum…

Después de tomar unas copas, fuimos a dar una vuelta del Sky Garden, en parte para entrar en calor y también para disfrutar las vistas de la ciudad desde una altura tan grande.  Desde el Sky Garden por la noche, se puede ver el este, el oeste, el norte y el sur de Londres enjoyados con semáforos, la luz de oficinas iluminadas, y las luces de la calle…

After having our drinks we had a walk around the Sky Garden, partly to keep warm as well as to enjoy the views of the city from such a great height.  From the Sky Garden at night, you can see the east, west, north and south of London bejewelled with traffic lights, office lights, and street lights … 

El edificio ‘Walkie-Talkie’ se halla en 20 Fenchurch Street, en el barrio del sector asegurador en Londres y está abierto todo el año desde la mañana hasta la noche.  Os recomiendo una visita, al mínimo para aprovechar las vistas de esta ciudad maravillosa.

The ‘Walkie-Talkie’ building is located at 20 Fenchurch Street, in London’s insurance district, and is open all year round from morning till night.  I recommend a visit at least to take in the sights of this wonderful city.
